Laura Linney's performance of weak, yet strong characters has made her one of today's greatest American actors. Her father was a renowned playwright. However, Linney was raised as an only child with a single mother who was a nurse. During the summers and with her father Linney discovered a love for the theatre. Her first stage experience was initially through Brown University then at Juilliard School. After graduating at Brown University in the year 2000, she began making her Broadway debut soon afterward. In the space of two years from the time, her debut film hit the market, and following year, her debut on television. Over the past few years, she's appeared in numerous TV productions, films and stage plays. Over the course of her career, she won several awards, among them two Golden Globe Awards. Despite her numerous awards, she still loves the theatre, and has appeared on both screen and stage.
