Ashanti Shequoiya who is better popularly known as Ashanti is an extremely popular American singer and actress. She is an American singer and songwriter. Ashanti started her career in the teen years, and was eventually signed to Murder Inc. Records by 2002. Ashanti was featured in the Fat Joe's What's Luv? song that was released the following year. The track "What's Love?" by Fat Joe and Ja Rule's song "Always on Time was a huge hit for both of them. It was the first time for a female artist to hold first and second spots within the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at number one and What's Luv? The first female artist holding both the top two spots on The Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States and with the number one spot held by Foolish. one and the other being What's Loving? The Ashanti family can commemorate her special day here. Ashanti Shequoiya was popularly called Ashanti and was born on October 13th 1980, located in Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas her mother is an instructor in dance and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, her father is a singer from the past. She is the eldest and Kenashia Shia Douglas is her older sister. Douglas chose the name Ashanti in honor of Ghana's Ashanti Empire which was a place where women were in charge and held influence. Douglas wanted Ashanti to follow this paradigm. James's grandfather was a part of Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil right activist in the 1960s. Ashanti was caught by her mom when she saw Ashanti sing Mary J. Blige s song Reminisce. Ashanti appeared on Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? as an unidentified young actor. Also, Ashanti appeared in some music videos like 8-Off Ghettogirl, and K.R.S. Act One MC's You Don't Know. Ashanti's career as a musician was hampered because she was unable to find success after being approached by record labels such as Bad Boy and Jive. Despite this she continued to perform within and around New York and began hanging in the Murder Inc. recording studio hoping to get a major break. Ashanti first appeared in the song of Big Pun's How We Roll as a backing vocalist. She also appeared on Fat Joe's track"What's Luv?" Ja Rule's "Always on Time" and Fat Joe's What's Luv! She sampled DeBarge's 1983 single Stay with Me on her debut single Foolish. The album that Ashanti self-titled, released on The album by Irv's Murder Inc. in 2002 was Ashanti. The Declaration, her fourth studio album was released in June of 2008. On the 16th of October Hey Baby (After the Club) was made available to radio and digital outlets. She starred in the film Christmas in the City and as Latasha Montclair on Army Wives. Aitch sampled Rock wit U in his Baby on the 10th of March 2022 song.
